Dates to Remember
1. MR ROGERS ABSENCE: Mr Rogers will be on sick leave for the rest
of the 1999 school year. We are aware
many of you are concerned about him and the reason for his absence. He has prepared the following paragraphs to
inform you:
“Over
Labour weekend on several occasions I experienced major discomfort which
resulted in me losing my memory for about the next 2 weeks. I have no recollection of what occurred
during that time and whilst events in that period are gone forever, I am
beginning to remember again basic information like how to find my way around
parts of Auckland that slipped my memory.
Following
extensive medical and blood tests, the Neurologist states that he thinks it is
likely I have ‘Transient Global Amnesia’, but he is not certain as these
symptoms generally last 24 hours not 2 weeks as in my case. As a result I am on sick leave until the end
of the year when I will undergo further tests.
In
the meantime there is rest, relaxation and time to remember familiar names,
facts and information. I thank all
staff, students and parents for their kind thoughts and wishes.” Brian
Rogers.
2. CHRISTMAS SHOPPING NIGHT: This was a tremendous success,
the result of excellent organisation and a lot of hard work by our PTA. The profit should exceed $10,000, double
that raised previously, so congratulations and very many thanks to all the PTA
members and all who contributed to our Christmas Shopping Night. This showed a real school community working
together. Seeing people enjoying the
many activities and purchasing at the stalls shows just what can be achieved.
3. LIBRARY / ADMINISTRATION AREA: The library extensions are just
on completion and we will be able to use this new area this week – as a
staffroom, office and sickbay. Work on
the rebuilding of the staffroom and other administration areas is beginning
this week, so we are working under difficulties at present.
