STUDENT ACTIVITIES: Earlier in the term, all New Entrant to Year 2
classes, Rooms 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15 and 16, participated in the Spring
Flower Decorating Unit. All eight rooms
were a mass of colourful flowers and greenery and some of the students have written
stories:
Nikita
Ram, Year 2, Room 15 – “ Last Friday all
of the juniors made some saucers. We
made them just for fun and because it was spring. First we put some sand in then we patted it. After that Mrs Nield put some water in them
then we started making them. I put pink
flowers on the edge and a white one in the middle. At 2 o’clock we went to the other rooms to have a look at the
other peoples. While we were at
assembly Mrs Wanden took photos of our flowers. When I went home my mum said “Water them every day”.
Ashley
Tan, Year 1, Room 8 – “Today I brought some flowers to school. I brought lots of flowers. I got to pick the ones I liked and we put
them in the sand first. Then we put in
the flowers, then put the toys on the sand, then we put the saucers on the
tables. We went to the other classrooms.
The last classroom was Room 7.
Some sand saucers were nice, some were pretty, some were big and some
were little. I like my flowers because
it’s got lots of red. I got my flowers
from a tree.”

LUNCHROOM UPDATE:

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION UPDATE: The final total for the Walkathon was $5646.00 which is a top result, well done everyone. The CHRISTMAS
SHOPPING NIGHT ON 19 NOVEMBER is less than a month away. The PTA have done a superb job in
organisation and the response from families for sending non perishable food for
raffles has been great. Thank you
parents. Last week all students were
given a notice about cake boxes and later this week, all students will bring
home Newsletter No 4. We still have
room for helpers – every offer helps overall organisation.
4.
ENROLMENT SCHEME: The school’s
Enrolment Scheme has been accepted by the Ministry and will take effect from
next year. In the meantime, the former
scheme is still operative. A further
reminder to all parents that any student starting at Sunnynook School in 2000, MUST PRE-ENROL as we now have few
vacancies at all levels. Copies of
pre-enrolment forms are available from local pre-schools and the school office.
5.
STUDENTS LEAVING: As mentioned
previously, there is pressure in the availability of places for 2000. As a result, if any parents know that your
child/ren (apart from Year 6 children) will be leaving the school at the end of
the year, please ring the school secretary Mrs Broadley on 410-6534 with the
information.
6.
ROAD PATROLS: We wish to
thank Ms Churchill and Mrs Stanley who responded to our request to supervise
students across Tonkin Drive, and in this way, we have adult coverage every
day. In 2000, we wish to continue our
afternoon coverage of Sunnynook Road and as some of our long standing parents
supervisors will be leaving, there will be vacancies to fill, details in a
later newsletter.
7.
BUILDING INFORMATION UPDATE:
Framing for the library is completed, roofing is underway with a finish
date late November. Following this,
